CONCACAF President Jack Warner
May 3 - The 35-strong CONCACAF Confederation today delayed its decision on who to back in the FIFA Presidential election after Sepp Blatter's rival, Mohamed Bin Hammam, was denied access to attend its Congress in Miami.
It had been widely anticipated that Blatter would gain the upper hand and strike a significant blow in Bin Hammam's absence.
But in the end the 75-year-old Swiss appeared to gain little advantage when CONCACAF President Jack Warner said it would be unfair to state an official position without also hearing from the challenger.
As reported exclusively by insideworldfootball, bin Hammam, the Asian Football Confederation chief, failed to secure a visa in time to travel to the USA.
He will instead meet with CONCACAF's Caribbean representatives in Trinidad on May 10 in a hastily arranged alternative summit.
Warner, whose organisation has been a strong backer of Blatter in the past, told a news conference immediately after the congress: "It is about fair play."
However, he did confirm that CONCACAF would stick with its practice of voting as a block at the FIFA election in Zurich on June 1.
It is now likely that decision will be made at the FIFA Congress itself just before the vote.
Despite CONCACAF deferring its preferred choice, Blatter, who described the Americas as his "base", said he was "absolutely sure" the Confederation would give him their usual strong backing.
But not everyone is so convinced.
Many outside the region believe that CONCACAF may ultimately stray from its usual strategy.
The election for President is by secret ballot and CONCACAF members are still peeved at the decision to award the 2022 World Cup to Qatar instead of the United States.
Not only that.
They became even more angry when FIFA's Executive Committee failed to grant them another berth at the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.
Indeed, general secretary Chuck Blazer publicly expressed his personal disappointment.
Whether these two elements combined will be sufficiently strong to work against Blatter and in favour of Bin Hammam remains to be seen.
In the meantime, there was still no official explanation as to why bin Hammam, a Qatari, was denied a visa especially when it was assumed he travels on a diplomatic passport".
FIFA kleptomaniac Jack Warner, "whose organisation has been a strong backer of Blatter in the past, told a news conference immediately after the congress: "It is about fair play."
I do not believe for a moment that there is, "fair play" in FI FA FO FUMB land at all! especially when those words are espoused from a man who has hit the HEADLINES more often than not for all the WRONG REASONS and my definition of "fair play" is Fairness in playing, contending, debating, ideally it is the practice of justice unaffected by prejudice or partiality...and that is most certainly NOT Little Jack Warner who sits in a corner...counting and pocketing someone else's MONEY!

Why we all love Karene Asche & Kizzie Ruiz: The Calypso Queens that Mock Warner
By Andrew Jennings
Saturday March 18, 2011
FIFA's Jack Warner has suffered another well-deserved blow to his image at home. Two brilliant calypsos satirising Warner’s crimes against Trinidad’s footballers, his racism and the foolishness of giving him a government post where he can award public contracts have won the country’s top prize at the 2011 Carnival.
Karene Asche danced across the stage at the Queen's Park Savannah, in Port of Spain, beating ten other contestants to win the $2 million prize and the title of 2011 ‘Calypso Monarch’ with her energetic performance of ‘Uncle Jack.’
During her performance Karene taunted a costumed figure representing Warner. Half-way through ‘Uncle Jack’ another actor, holding a microphone and dressed to look like BBC TV reporter (yes, you guessed!) Andrew Jennings, chased Warner around the stage.
Warner cheats players
The Savannah rang with cheers as the ‘reporter’ chased the FIFA vice-president around the stage asking about his World Cup ticket rackets and why he cheats Trinidad’s 2006 World Cup team the Soca Warriors out of millions of dollars.
Videos of these BBC confrontations have attracted tens of thousands of viewers on YouTube.
A Trinidad court has just forced Warner and his associates at the Trinidad football federation to hand over an interim US$1 million. They will likely have to hand over another $40 million to settle the case. It’s become a big issue in Trinidad – but not at FIFA where Warner is encouraged to get away with any racket he wants.
Near the finale of Karene’s performance the ‘Warner’ figure walked to the front of the stage waving a sign decorated with the capital letters ‘HNIC.’
The ‘HNIC’ sign was a jolting reminder to Trinidadians of Warner’s grotesque comment during a Cabinet meeting soon after the UNC party, funded by Warner, won power in last year’s elections.
In that meeting Warner referred to himself proudly as the ‘HNIC’ – which he explained later stands for ‘Head Nigger in Charge.’ Sadly, Warner appears ignorant of the true meaning of ‘HNIC.’
Warner the slave master
The great African-American novelist Ralph Ellison defined HNIC as the ‘lone black person whom whites have invested with voice and authority; the king of darkies.’ This might reflect Warner’s role as the man who delivers Caribbean votes at FIFA and makes the region safe for FIFA’s global-brand sponsors.
The Rev. Charles Stith, a former US ambassador to Tanzania, once said that in its original context this phase was used to describe ‘the slave placed in charge of other slaves.’
The political message behind the second calypso ‘Careful what you ask for’ that clinched the Calypso Monarch title for Karene Asche, was explained to me by one of her friends. ‘It starts as a commentary on how gullible young people might choose the wrong partners in love, then switches to applying this analogy to the politics in our country today.
Chagrin and disappointment
‘We went to the polls last year and the People’s National Movement (PNM) was voted out and the new government was formed by the United National Congress (UNC) of which Uncle Jack is Chairman - to many persons' chagrin and disappointment. We sought to capture this early disappointment in this calypso. The parallel between young gullible love and cruel politics is self explanatory.’
Five years ago another calypso lyricist was eerily accurate, predicting at the Trinidad Carnival in February 2006 that the Warriors team that had qualified for the World Cup finals would be ripped off by the Warner family.
This calypso – ‘Germany’ - was performed by Kizzie Ruiz and in the third verse there’s a reminder of Jack Warner’s earlier ticket rackets – he sold 10,000 more than the stadium could hold - at Trinidad’s World Cup qualifying match at home against the USA in 1989.
It got worse: FIFA officials were desperate for the USA to win and go forward to play in Italia ’90 – otherwise it was going to be much harder to promote the next World Cup in America 1994. Many fans found it hard to accept some decisions by officials that led to the defeat of the Trinidad team on that Good Friday.
After more jibes at Warner and his political associates the song winds up with the warning,
De tickets will sell in batches,
But watch the man by the till,
That man is, of course, Jack Warner.
It concludes with an accurate forecast of what the Warner family were about to inflict on the national team. Kizzie Ruiz sang,
I only hope the poor players,
don’t end up in a ditch,
With de fat cats getting fatter,
and the rich even more rich,
On de road to . . . Germany!

OUR PROMISE
For the Game. For the World.
The world is a place rich in natural beauty and cultural diversity, but also one where many are still deprived of their basic rights. FIFA now has an even greater responsibility to reach out and touch the world, using football as a symbol of hope and integration.
Only with the unwavering dedication of every FIFA team member, every member association and every business partner can football in all its forms contribute to achieving FIFA's goals at a high level by protecting standards, encouraging competition and promoting solidarity in the world game.
For the Game. For the World.
OUR MISSION
'Develop the game, touch the world, build a better future'.
Played by millions around the world, football is the heart and soul of FIFA and as the guardian of this most cherished game, we have a great responsibility. This responsibility does not end with organising the FIFA World Cup™ and the various other world cup competitions; it extends to safeguarding the Laws of the Game, developing the game around the world and to bringing hope to those less privileged. This is what we believe is the very essence of fair play and solidarity.
We see it as our mission to contribute towards building a better future for the world by using the power and popularity of football. This mission gives meaning and direction to each and every activity that FIFA is involved in - football being an integrated part of our society.
OUR APPROACH
Develop the game. Improve the game of football constantly and promote it globally in the light of its unifying, educational, cultural and humanitarian values, particularly through youth and development programmes. Football development means investing in people and society at large. Football is a school of life.
Touch the world. Take world-class football action and passion at all levels to every corner of the planet through our 208 member associations. The broad range of competitions shows the many faces of football, spearheaded by the FIFA World Cup™.
Build a better future. Football is no longer considered merely a global sport, but also as unifying force whose virtues can make an important contribution to society. We use the power of football as a tool for social and human development, by strengthening the work of dozens of initiatives around the globe to support local communities in the areas of peacebuilding, health, social integration, education and more.
WHAT WE STAND FOR
Our core values of authenticity, unity, performance and integrity are at the very heart of who we are.
Authenticity. We believe that football must remain a simple, beautiful game played by, enjoyed by and touching the lives of all people far and wide
Unity. We believe it is FIFA´s responsibility to foster unity within the football world and to use football to promote solidarity, regardless of gender, ethnic background, faith or culture
Performance. We believe that FIFA must strive to deliver football of the highest quality and as the best possible experience, be it as a player, as a spectacle, or as a major cultural and social enabler throughout the world
Integrity. We believe that, just as the game itself, FIFA must be a model of fair play, tolerance, sportsmanship and transparency
A CHANCE AND A CHALLENGE
'For the Game. For the World' reflects the core element of our mission and represents both a chance and a challenge: a chance for us to contribute to making a difference to people´s lives, and a challenge to balance this social element with our traditional competence of overseeing the rules of the game and organising world-class competitions.
"We see it as our duty to take on the social responsibility that comes hand in hand with our position at the helm of the world's most loved sport.
Join us in uniting forces to develop the game, touch the world and build a better future!"
Joseph S. Blatter
I Siena, will be honest and say that I have a preference to see the incumbent President of FIFA, Sepp Blatter retain his position, because I myself am biased against his rival Mohamed Bin Hammam and why? Many of you who are my followers in Twitter and friends in Facebook know why.
My reason is in this LINK: http://tinyurl.com/3fqefzv
I am a very loyal KIWI GIRL and I LOVE MY LITTLE NATION...So what if our national game is 'RUGBY UNION', not all citizens of Aotearoa aka New Zealand are MAD ON RUGBY...I'M NOT!
Some of us actually LOVE Soccer aka Football...I DO!
For Mohammed Bin Hammam to become the next FIFA President, it will not bode well for my little nation...The Beautiful Game TRANSMITS GLOBALLY, even DownUnder and FOOTBALL is a game that is 'INCLUSIVE and NOT EXCLUSIVE' We have a RIGHT to belong to the GLOBAL FOOTBALL FAMILY TOO!
Here ENDETH MY RANTING ;)....FOR NOW...I'm HUNGRY
ByeBye XX
